In the first half of 2026, Dushanbe's transport sector transported 231 million passengers , while freight volume exceeded 11 million tons , demonstrating continued growth in transport activity and the development of urban infrastructure. This was announced today at a press conference summarizing the socioeconomic development of Dushanbe for the first half of 2026.
As noted by representatives of the city's executive authority, the development of a modern transportation system remains a key focus of the capital's administration. During the reporting period, public transportation modernization, route network improvements, road infrastructure upgrades, and the implementation of intelligent traffic management systems continued.
According to the city administration, the increase in passenger traffic is due to the expansion of the public transport network, the introduction of new electric buses, improved public transport services, and the development of urban infrastructure.

At the same time, efforts continue to improve road safety, construct new interchanges, repair roads, and modernize bus stops. Particular attention is being paid to the implementation of digital technologies in the transport sector, including public transport monitoring systems and electronic passenger services.
The growth in freight traffic is driven by increased construction, industrial and commercial development, and the implementation of major infrastructure projects in the capital. City authorities believe the sustainable development of the transport system is a key factor in Dushanbe's continued economic growth.
In the second half of the year, it is planned to continue upgrading public transport, developing an intelligent transport system, and constructing new road infrastructure facilities.
