A laboratory for the identification of dual-use goods has opened under the Agency for Chemical, Biological, Radiation, and Nuclear Safety of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan. Its creation aims to develop the country's expert and analytical potential in the area of state and export control, as well as to fulfill the Republic of Tajikistan's international obligations regarding the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
The opening ceremony was attended by the President of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, Academician Kobiljon Khushvakhtzoda, Vice President of the National Academy of Sciences Ilkhom Amonzoda, Director of the Agency for Chemical, Biological, Radiation and Nuclear Safety Ilkhom Mirsaidzoda, heads of research institutes and representatives of relevant government agencies.

Participants learned about the new laboratory's technical capabilities, modern analytical equipment, and its role in providing expert support for export control of dual-use goods.
As the organizers noted, the opening of the laboratory marked an important stage in the development of the national security infrastructure. It is designed to help prevent the illicit trafficking of goods, materials, equipment, and technologies that could be used for both civilian and potentially sensitive purposes.

The main task of the new unit will be to conduct laboratory research, expert assessment, identification, and scientific and technical classification of goods, materials, equipment, and technologies classified as dual-use goods.
Based on the research results, specialists will prepare scientifically based conclusions on the product's purpose, chemical composition, technical characteristics, scope of application, and compliance with lists of controlled goods.
