The Commissioner for Human Rights of the Republic of Tajikistan, Umed Bobozoda, and the Akyikatchy (Ombudsman) of the Kyrgyz Republic, Jamilya Dzhamanbaeva, signed a memorandum of cooperation in the field of human rights protection, the press service of the CIS Executive Committee reported.

The document became the first agreement between the national human rights institutions of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, aimed at developing cooperation in protecting the rights and freedoms of citizens of the two countries.
According to the memorandum, the parties will promptly inform each other of any identified cases of violation of citizens' rights within their respective territories, consider relevant appeals, and facilitate the restoration of violated rights within the limits of their authority.
In addition, the ombudsmen agreed to hold joint meetings with citizens of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, organize monitoring visits, and provide legal consultations.
According to Dzhamilya Dzhamanbaeva, the signed memorandum should not be a formal document, but an effective mechanism for protecting human rights.
"From now on, we have an official legal basis for the prompt consideration of appeals from Kyrgyz citizens in Tajikistan and Tajik citizens in Kyrgyzstan," she said.
In turn, Umed Bobozoda emphasized the centuries-old good-neighborliness and close ties between the two countries, expressing confidence that the new cooperation will contribute to more effective protection of the interests of the citizens of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
