Passenger train No. 423/424 from Dushanbe to Moscow departed on June 21 after a nearly six-year hiatus. According to the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan, the resumption of the route was made possible thanks to cooperation between the State Unitary Enterprise "Rohi ohani Tojikiston" (Tajik Railways) and Russian Railways (RZD), as well as coordination with the railway administrations of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
According to the Russian Railways online timetable, the first train is scheduled to arrive at Moscow's Paveletsky Station on June 24 at 10:08 PM.
According to the carrier, passenger train No. 423/424 will operate once every two weeks. Starting June 21, the train will depart Dushanbe on Sundays at 3:25 AM local time and arrive in Moscow on Wednesdays at 10:08 PM.
Return flights from Moscow will begin operating on June 25. Departure is scheduled on Thursdays at 6:05 AM, and arrival in Dushanbe is scheduled on Mondays at 2:48 AM local time.
The journey takes about four days.
The train consists of compartment and sleeper cars. The route passes through Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Russia.
Stops for boarding and disembarking passengers are provided in Bukhara, Nukus, Kungrad, Kandyagash, Aktobe, Sol-Iletsk, Orenburg, Samara, Syzran, Kuznetsk, Penza, Ryazhsk, Skopin, Ozherelye and other settlements.
According to the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan, tickets can be purchased 45 days before departure. Ticket sales from Dushanbe are already open.
The cost of a ticket for the first flight from Dushanbe on June 21 was 2617.6 somoni, or 20,089 rubles, in a reserved seat carriage and 3713.42 somoni, or 28,499 rubles, in a compartment carriage.
Currently, three trains operated by the State Unitary Enterprise "Rohi okhani Toqikiston" also operate between Tajikistan and Russia: No. 319/320 "Kulyab – Volzhsky," No. 329/330 "Dushanbe – Volzhsky," and No. 359/360 "Khujand – Volzhsky." Each of these routes operates once a week.
Passenger rail service between Dushanbe and Moscow was suspended in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. Almost six years later, train service on this route has been restored.
