On June 19, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze, who arrived in Tajikistan on an official visit at the head of a high-ranking delegation from the friendly country.




During the talks, the parties discussed in detail the current state and prospects of bilateral relations, and exchanged views on current issues on the international and regional agenda.
The interlocutors emphasized the importance of intensifying political dialogue and working contacts at various levels. Particular attention was paid to expanding interparliamentary ties and strengthening the role of parliamentary diplomacy in developing relations between the two countries.
Trade and economic cooperation was a central topic of the talks. The parties discussed the implementation of joint investment projects, the creation of production chains in promising economic sectors, and the development of e-commerce.



Areas of mutually beneficial cooperation identified included the joint use of interregional transit corridors, collaboration in agriculture, light industry, food processing, mining and processing, pharmaceuticals, innovation and new technologies, including artificial intelligence, and the development of a "green" economy.
When discussing humanitarian cooperation, special attention was paid to expanding contacts in the fields of science, education, tourism, healthcare, culture, youth policy, and sports.

Following the Georgian Prime Minister's official visit, a package of bilateral documents was signed aimed at strengthening the legal framework for cooperation between the two countries. In total, the parties signed 11 documents, covering areas such as air travel, agriculture, tourism, science and education, culture, sports, climate change, and other areas of mutual interest.
The parties attached particular importance to the signing of the Agreement on the Establishment of a Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation. Emomali Rahmon expressed confidence that the commission's activities will facilitate the implementation of practical measures to develop economic and other areas of cooperation between the two countries.


During the talks, mutual commitment to continued cooperation in the international arena was also confirmed, including coordination of efforts within the United Nations and its specialized agencies. Particular emphasis was placed on water resources, climate change, and the need for joint action to reduce the negative impacts of climate change.
The parties paid special attention to issues of security and effective counteraction to modern threats and challenges.
Following the conclusion of the negotiations, Emomali Rahmon and Irakli Kobakhidze made statements to the media.


The head of Tajikistan noted that the agreements reached define the prospects for the further development of relations between the two countries and give new impetus to cooperation in all areas.


As part of the Georgian delegation's visit to Dushanbe, a ceremony will also be held to unveil a bust of the eminent Georgian poet and classical writer Shota Rustaveli on Rustaveli Street in the capital. Emomali Rahmon emphasized that this cultural event will be an important step toward strengthening the friendly ties between the peoples of the two countries.





In conclusion, the President of Tajikistan thanked the Prime Minister of Georgia for the invitation to visit Georgia and expressed his readiness to take advantage of it at the first opportunity.
