The Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense of the Republic of Tajikistan has reported the risk of hazardous natural phenomena in the country from May 1 to May 4, 2026.
According to the department, local mudflows are possible in the foothill and mountainous regions of the districts of republican subordination, as well as in certain districts of the Khatlon region, on April 30 and May 1.
Between May 1 and 3, dust masses are expected to arrive, leading to poor air quality, reduced visibility, and the formation of dust haze.
The main impact zones are the Khatlon region (southern and central districts), the districts of republican subordination and the city of Dushanbe, as well as the eastern districts of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region.
Precipitation and dangerously strong winds are forecast for the Khatlon region. Dust showers and localized mudflows are possible.
Gusty winds, dusty haze, and deteriorating air quality are expected in the Districts of Republican Subordination and the city of Dushanbe. Mudflows remain a risk in mountainous areas.
Precipitation is forecast for the Sughd region, with snow in mountainous areas. Strong winds are possible in some areas.
Precipitation is expected in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, with snow in the highlands. Strong winds and dusty haze are forecast for the eastern part of the region.
The Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense of the Republic of Tajikistan has urged the population to strictly observe safety measures. Specifically, they are advised to avoid being near rivers, mudflow channels, and mountain slopes, limit time spent outdoors in dusty haze, wear respiratory protection, refrain from unnecessary travel to mountainous areas, and monitor official announcements.
