In 2026, Tajikistan and Belarus will celebrate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Republic of Belarus and Permanent Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan to the statutory and other bodies of the Commonwealth of Independent States Bakhtovar Safarzoda announced this in an interview with the BELTA news agency.

According to him, over three decades, Tajikistan and the Republic of Belarus have built a stable political dialogue at the highest and high levels, creating a solid foundation for multifaceted cooperation.
The Ambassador paid special attention to economic statistics. By the end of 2025, trade turnover between the two countries exceeded $222 million, a 29.2% increase compared to the previous year. These figures demonstrate the growing momentum of bilateral cooperation and the expansion of economic ties.
A working group on investment cooperation has been established, preparations are underway to launch a subcommittee on industrial cooperation, and projects for the creation of joint ventures and product localization are being developed.
A working visit by President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to Tajikistan in October 2025 to participate in the CIS summit and a meeting with President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon gave a significant impetus to cooperation.
Tajikistan's chairmanship of the CIS in 2025 was of particular significance, allowing for enhanced coordination in key areas of the integration agenda, strengthening industrial cooperation, and expanding humanitarian contacts.
Humanitarian cooperation is actively developing. Days of Culture and Belarusian Cinema were held in Dushanbe, and preparations are underway for Days of Tajik Culture in Belarus.
Industry and tourism were identified as key areas for further intensification of cooperation. Cooperation in mechanical engineering, agro-industrial complex, agricultural processing, light industry, and food processing also holds promise.
The tourism sector has significant potential, given Tajikistan's natural, historical, and cultural resources and Belarus's developed resort infrastructure. The development of direct air travel remains a key factor in increasing tourism exchanges.
Overall, Bakhtovar Safarzoda emphasized, Tajik-Belarusian relations are demonstrating steady positive dynamics, are becoming more comprehensive and systemic, and have significant potential for further deepening their strategic partnership for the benefit of the peoples of both countries.
