On March 3, 2026, contracts for the provision of grant assistance for two new projects were signed between Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Tajikistan Ms. Furuta Keiko and representatives of the beneficiary organizations. The total amount of the two grants provided by the Government of Japan is $263,496.
Funding is provided through the Japanese Government's Grant Assistance for Grassroots and Human Security (GGP) Program.
The first project involves the construction of a new school No. 57 in the village of Dekhlolo in the Muminabad district. The grant amount is $144,016. The contract was signed by Amirzoda Sayvali, Chairman of the Muminabad district in Khatlon region.
The second project concerns the construction of a new school No. 24 in the village of Dasht in the Roshtqala district. The funding amount is $119,480. The contract was signed by Safarzoda Lashkar, Chairman of the Roshtqala district of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region.
The implementation of projects to build new schools will create safe and modern learning conditions for students in these and nearby villages and will contribute to improving the quality of the educational environment in remote communities across the country.


During her speech, Ambassador Furuta Keiko emphasized that Japan continues to actively promote priority areas of cooperation with Tajikistan, agreed upon at the Japan-Tajikistan summit held on the sidelines of the first "Central Asia Plus Japan" Dialogue Summit, which was held in Tokyo last December.
The speech also noted that, for more than 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations with Tajikistan, Japan has provided assistance to the Tajik people in a wide range of areas as a sign of friendship.
In conclusion, Ms. Furuta expressed hope for the successful implementation of the projects and their positive impact on the quality of life of local residents.
The beneficiaries of the two projects expressed their gratitude to the Government and people of Japan for the assistance provided.
Support under the Japanese Government's Community and Human Security Grant Assistance Program is provided primarily to local governments, educational and medical institutions, and international non-governmental organizations in developing countries.
Since 1996, the Government of Japan has implemented 471 humanitarian projects through the GGP program, totaling US$39.2 million, aimed at the development of the Republic of Tajikistan.
