President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon congratulated the country's residents, compatriots abroad, and the peoples of countries where the Navruz civilization is found on the arrival of the New Year of the Ancestors—the international Navruz. This was reported by the press service of the President of Tajikistan.
In his address, the head of state noted that Navruz is one of the most ancient human holidays, symbolizing the beginning of a new year, the transition from cold to warmth, and the rebirth of nature and all its creatures and plants.
He emphasized that along with Navruz, the ancient Aryans also celebrated other ancient rites and holidays, including Sada, Tirgon and Mehrgon, but it is Navruz that has special glory.
The President noted that the ancestors of the Tajik people preserved this holiday for over six thousand years, despite numerous difficulties and obstacles. He stated that over the millennia, Navruz has become a precious legacy of folk culture and an integral part of national identity and pride.
The head of state also emphasized that the culture of Navruz is gradually being recognized as an important factor in peace, tranquility, and the coexistence of various cultures, civilizations, and territories.
He noted that although the equinox occurs twice a year, Navruz embodies the springtime rebirth of nature and all things as a sign of new life. For this reason, our ancestors chose this day—the spring equinox—as the beginning of the new solar year and named it "Navruz," a Tajik word that has remained unchanged for millennia.
The President noted that today people from different countries congratulate each other with the words "Navruz Muborak" in the Tajik language.
He emphasized that the historical Tajik origin of the holiday's name is proof that this ancient ritual originated in the land of Aryan ancestors, and noted the need to preserve its values and traditions, including through the creation of an International Navruz Center in Dushanbe.
In his address, Emomali Rahmon noted that Tajikistan has two great holidays: Independence Day and the ancient Navruz, which he called "two wings" of the country's historical development.
The President also recalled that 2026 has been declared the "Year of Expanding Improvement and Creation Work, Strengthening National Identity and Self-Awareness," which makes the celebration of Navruz especially significant.
The head of state emphasized that Nowruz is not only a celebration of nature's rebirth but also the beginning of agricultural and horticultural work. Therefore, he called on farmers and all those who work the land to make effective use of the spring season to increase agricultural production, supply the consumer market, and improve living standards.
He also pointed to the complex and vulnerable situation in the modern world related to food security and called for the rational use of all resources, including land and water.
The President noted that this year Navruz is being celebrated in a climate of peace, tranquility, and complete political stability, as well as during preparations for the 35th anniversary of Tajikistan's state independence.
He called for preserving the country's independence and freedom, calling them a sacred and precious gift.
The address also emphasizes that Navruz brings joy and renewal, calls for the purification of the inner world, liberation from malice and hostility, and the observance of cleanliness and order.
The President noted the importance of preserving national traditions, including wearing national dress and keeping homes clean, and also emphasized the importance of such values as helping those in need, supporting orphans, visiting relatives, and doing good deeds.
The head of state expressed confidence that, thanks to the unity, cohesion, and hard work of the people, strategic goals will be achieved, and that Navruz will bring joy, happiness, and success to every family.
In conclusion, Emomali Rahmon once again congratulated the country's residents, compatriots abroad, and the peoples of the countries in the Navruz civilization area, wishing each family health, happiness, and prosperity.
