On March 22, the Second World Navruz Youth Festival opened in Dushanbe and will run until March 26. This was announced by the Committee for Youth and Sports under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
That same day, festival participants, who included over 200 young people from 30 countries, laid a wreath at the monument to Ismoili Somoni. The festival then opened at the National Library of Tajikistan. Young people also took part in a tree-planting campaign.
The festival will run until March 26. Participants will explore Navruz festivities and cultural sites in Dushanbe, Hisor, Tursunzade, and the cities and districts of Khatlon Region.
The event aims to unite the world's youth around shared values of peace, friendship, cultural diversity, and sustainable development, support cultural dialogue and the exchange of ideas between young people from different countries, promote the cultural heritage of Nowruz as a symbol of renewal and hope, and create a platform for youth initiatives aimed at addressing contemporary issues.
The festival includes the Youth Forum of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Member States, proposed by the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon during the summit of heads of state of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states in Tianjin, People's Republic of China.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization Youth Forum is taking place in Dushanbe. It promotes international cooperation, cultural exchange, and mutual understanding among young people from different countries.
These forums allow participants to exchange experiences, new ideas, and projects aimed at improving the social, economic, and environmental situation in the world.
The festival and forum will feature a cultural program, craft exhibitions, a gastronomic festival, educational panels, forums and summits, green movement events, environmental activities, sporting competitions, including traditional and modern sports, and an introduction to the historical landmarks and culture of Nowruz in the region.
