Tajikistan will implement its first major solar energy project, with a total capacity of 500 MW. The corresponding investment agreement was signed between the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and Ayon Energy, a limited liability company, according to the country's State Committee for Investment and State Property Management.
According to the document, the project includes the construction of two large photovoltaic power plants: a 250 MW solar photovoltaic power plant in the Asht district and a 250 MW solar photovoltaic power plant in the Jayhun district. The total investment in the project is $250 million.

The project is the largest in Tajikistan's history in terms of installed solar power capacity and marks a new stage in the development of green energy and the country's modern energy infrastructure. Its implementation is being carried out in accordance with the instructions of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan outlined in his Address to the Majlisi Oli (National Assembly), as well as in line with government measures aimed at developing renewable energy sources.
Solar power plants will contribute to strengthening the country's energy independence, reducing seasonal electricity shortages, especially in winter, alleviating the burden on the energy system, and ensuring a stable electricity supply for the population and the national economy.
The investor commits to complete the design, construction, and commissioning of both solar power plants by 2026. The project is seen as an important step toward green energy, a sustainable economy, and a clean future for Tajikistan, and forms a solid foundation for achieving energy independence.
