In Kazakhstan, 299 leaders and members of organized crime groups (OCGs) were prosecuted in 2025, according to a meeting of the board of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing the ministry's press service.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 78 criminal cases have been opened for the creation and management of organized crime groups, including 10 involving transnational channels. Over 2,500 weapons have been seized from illegal circulation during law enforcement operations.
Interior Minister Yerzhan Sadenov emphasized that the measures taken have eliminated the criminal groups' stable funding and supply channels, as well as eliminated their impact on the economy and public safety.
It is noted that in a number of cases, law enforcement officers were also involved in criminal activity. For example, last year, the deputy head of the North Kazakhstan Region's Organized Crime Department was sentenced to eight years in prison for repeatedly accepting bribes in exchange for protecting a repeat offender. Cases of protection of large organized crime groups have also been uncovered in the Kyzylorda Region.
Against this backdrop, the Chairman of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan, Kamchybek Tashiev, stated that organized crime groups no longer operate in the country.
