In Tajikistan, 13,096 responsible individuals were fined for violating sanitary and epidemiological regulations by the end of 2025, and the operations of 186 facilities were temporarily suspended until the violations were rectified. These figures were announced on January 8 at a board meeting of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Republic.
As reported at the meeting, sanitary and epidemiological surveillance specialists inspected 7,700 facilities over the course of the year. During these inspections, 5,925 kilograms of substandard and expired food products were seized and destroyed.

The meeting, held in the hall of the Avicenna Tajik State Medical University, focused on summing up the ministry's activities for 2025 and setting goals for 2026. Representatives of the government, the ministry's leadership, regional health authorities, and medical institutions across the country participated.
Minister of Health and Social Protection Jamoliddin Abdullozoda reported that 330 organ transplants were performed in the country in 2025, an increase from the previous year. More than 87,300 healthcare workers work in the healthcare system, including 22,419 physicians and 64,909 mid-level medical specialists. Physician staffing levels are 94.3%, while mid-level medical staffing levels are 99.7%, with a shortage of approximately 1,600 specialists remaining.

It was also noted that in 2025, 71 pharmaceutical companies will produce more than 106.5 million units of medicines and medical devices, which is 4.5 million more than in 2024.
Immunization received special attention at the meeting. Last October, 517,000 girls aged 10 to 14 were vaccinated against the human papillomavirus, reaching a coverage rate of 96.6%.
Following the meeting, priority tasks for 2026 were identified, including improving the quality of medical services, developing healthcare infrastructure, training personnel, and strengthening the prevention of infectious diseases.
