Bills aimed at improving migration policy will soon be introduced to the Russian State Duma, announced Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin.
The draft proposals propose reducing the mandatory medical examination period for all foreign citizens arriving in Russia for a period of more than three months from 90 to 30 days.
Furthermore, it is planned to require medical organizations to send information to the Ministry of Internal Affairs on issued reports, as well as to Rospotrebnadzor on the detection of infectious diseases in migrants, so that prompt action can be taken, including possible deportation.
The bill introduces administrative penalties for foreign citizens evading medical examinations. This violation will be punishable by a fine and the possibility of deportation by court order.
The proposals also include the establishment of increased criminal liability for the falsification of official documents certifying the absence of diseases that pose a danger to others, and for their circulation.
The State Duma Chairman noted that the proposed measures are aimed at strengthening control over foreign citizens and improving public safety in the country.
