The Second Western District Military Court sentenced 33-year-old Uzbek citizen Makhbubakhon Urinboeva to 15 years in prison for aiding and abetting the financing of terrorism, according to the Moscow Prosecutor's Office press service.
The court found that in October 2022, while in Moscow, Urinboeva transferred her bank card and account details, as well as her personal account access credentials, to an acquaintance. In effect, she granted a third party complete control over her financial instruments.
According to investigators, the man used the accounts to receive and subsequently transfer 6,500 rubles, which were cashed outside of Russia. These funds were intended to finance the activities of a terrorist organization. The Moscow Prosecutor's Office did not specify the name of the organization, but, as TASS reports, it is the international terrorist organization Katiba Tawhid wal-Jihad, banned in the Russian Federation.
The defendant pleaded not guilty. She is charged under Part 5 of Article 33 and Part 4 of Article 205.1 of the Russian Criminal Code ("Aiding and abetting the financing of terrorism"). The verdict has not yet entered into legal force and can be appealed in accordance with the established procedure.
