On Wednesday, December 10, Ukraine submitted a detailed official response to the US administration regarding the latest draft of the peace plan to end the war unleashed by Russia. This was reported to Axios by Ukrainian and US officials. RBC-Ukraine received confirmation of this information from an informed source.
According to Axios, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Rustem Umerov, who led the Ukrainian delegation at the talks, sent an official response containing comments and proposed amendments to Jared Kushner, adviser and son-in-law of US President Donald Trump.
After several days of consultations with their European allies, mainly Britain, France and Germany, Ukrainian negotiators outlined new ideas for resolving contentious issues related to territorial matters and the status of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant seized by Russian troops.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced in a nightly video address that, based on the 20-point peace plan, two more documents on relations with the United States are being prepared: one on U.S. security guarantees and the other on Ukraine's reconstruction and joint investment. According to the Ukrainian president, December 10 saw the "essentially first meeting of the group that will work on a document on Ukraine's reconstruction and economic revival." The American side was represented by Jared Kushner, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, and Larry Fink, CEO of BlackRock, one of the world's largest investment firms.
Senior military officials from the US and Ukraine are expected to hold a virtual meeting on December 11 to continue discussing the US peace plan, Axios reports.
