In the village of Nignot, Rudaki Jamoat, Penjikent, a project to repair and restore the Gurbik Canal, which will provide irrigation for 190 hectares of agricultural land, is ongoing with the support of the city's executive authorities and development partners, the city administration's press service reported .
The project involves the restoration of 3,500 meters of canal, which previously irrigated 80 hectares of land. The reconstruction will include replacing 1,200 meters of pipes and constructing three reservoirs using innovative geomembrane technology, each holding 1,500 cubic meters of water. This will allow for the irrigation of an additional 110 hectares of newly developed land in the mountainous regions of Gurbik, Tagi Mazoro, Guri Pirak, Dodavra, Sangi Safed, Shurhok, and others.

Penjikent Mayor Abdukholik Kholikzoda, who visited the site, noted that the canal's restoration will significantly increase irrigation efficiency and improve the condition of the lands currently in use.
On the newly irrigated lands, the Juma Odina farm, following expert recommendations, plans to plant orchards of almond, pistachio, apple, apricot, and other fruit trees suitable for the local climate. A modern drip irrigation system will be used for irrigation, allowing for efficient use of water resources and increased crop yields.

The Gurbik Canal restoration project is part of a comprehensive effort to modernize agriculture and ensure food security in the region, the Penjikent city administration emphasized.
