On November 18, a meeting of the Council of Heads of Government – Prime Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states was held in Moscow. Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Kokhir Rasulzoda participated in the meeting and spoke, reports NIAT Khovar.
The meeting discussed the current situation and prospects for cooperation in the areas of transport, energy, investment, customs, agriculture, climate change, security, and the cultural and humanitarian sector.
Prime Minister Kokhir Rasulzoda emphasized that Tajikistan considers trade and economic relations with member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization an important area of its foreign economic activity.
As noted, despite the influence of external factors, Tajikistan's economy maintains steady growth, with growth rates projected at 8.2% in 2025. Meanwhile, two-thirds of our foreign trade turnover is with member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and this figure is steadily growing.
The establishment of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Development Bank can be considered a key step towards supporting large-scale joint projects.
"To improve cross-border transport, Tajikistan proposes creating a unified digital platform within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization to manage multimodal transport," noted Kokhir Rasulzoda.
At the same time, it was proposed that SCO countries strengthen cooperation in the mining, textile, food processing, innovation, and green technologies sectors. To strengthen food security, it was deemed necessary to create regional electronic platforms for agricultural products.
Kokhir Rasulzoda called cultural exchange an important factor in development and proposed further expanding student exchanges between countries.
It was noted that the Republic of Tajikistan, having assumed the chairmanship of the Council of Heads of Government – Prime Ministers of the Member States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, will direct its efforts to further strategic updating of the Organization's economic agenda.
Tajikistan advocates for constructive cooperation with all member states and intends to contribute to the formation of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization as a union of peace, development, and prosperity.
Following the meeting of the heads of government and prime ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states, Russian President Vladimir Putin received them. During the meeting, issues of cooperation between countries within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization were discussed, and views were exchanged on current issues in multilateral relations and the results of the meeting.
