At its plenary session, the Federation Council approved a law expanding the list of grounds for terminating employment contracts with foreign citizens, TASS reported, citing the press service of the upper house of parliament.
According to the document, amendments have been made to the Labor Code of the Russian Federation, providing for the possibility of terminating an employment contract with a foreign worker in cases where the employer is obligated to reduce the number of foreign employees in compliance with the regulatory legal acts of a constituent entity of the Russian Federation adopted in accordance with federal law.
The explanatory note notes that current legislation permits the dismissal of foreign workers only when it is necessary to bring the number of employees into compliance with restrictions established by federal laws, decrees of the President of the Russian Federation, or decrees of the Government of the Russian Federation.
The new law eliminates this gap by extending this provision to decisions made at the level of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
