On November 10, a working meeting was held in Khatlon Region, chaired by the region's governor, Davlatali Said, with the participation of some heads of cotton-growing districts and heads of cotton processing plants. This was reported by the Khatlon Region press service.
The meeting was attended by the Director of the Export Agency under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, Bakhriddin Sirojiddinzoda, the deputy head of the region, the heads of the districts of Hamadoni, Vose, Panj, Farkhor, Abdurahmoni Jomi, as well as the heads of cotton ginning enterprises.
The meeting discussed issues of break-even harvesting of the remaining cotton crop, the readiness of cotton ginning plants for export, and monitoring of the cotton harvesting mechanism prior to its final processing.
Davlatali Said noted that the Head of State, in his latest Address and at meetings of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, views the development of the industrial sector as a key factor in economic progress, the creation of new permanent jobs, improving the standard and quality of life of the population, reducing poverty in the regions, and, in general, as a strategy of the fourth national priority.
It was emphasized that among the industrial products of the region, the textile industry occupies one of the leading areas.
Davlatali Said gave specific instructions to responsible officials on the reception and processing of cotton produced by farmers, the prevention of incorrect reporting, taxation of cotton processing, monitoring the actual solvency of cotton ginning enterprises, preventing illegal processing and smuggling of cotton, as well as monitoring the collection of cotton before its final processing and maintaining accurate statistical records.
On November 5, cotton-growing farms in Khatlon region announced that they had fulfilled their annual cotton harvest plan.
This year, farmers in Khatlon Region planted cotton on 108,265 hectares and have harvested over 254,000 tons of cotton to date. This figure is 127,000 tons higher than last year, demonstrating the high efficiency of the region's agricultural producers and the state's support for the industry's development.
