On August 23, the Ministry of Health held a working meeting entitled "On the Organization and Conduct of Additional Immunization Days against Rubella and Measles in the Republic of Tajikistan." The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population Abdukholik Amirzoda, heads of relevant departments, representatives of medical institutions in cities and districts across the country, and heads of healthcare centers in Dushanbe.
The Deputy Minister noted that holding additional immunization days is aimed at preventing the spread of measles and rubella in the republic.
The Ministry emphasized that the measles and rubella campaign is conducted annually as part of the National Immunization Days, which cover the entire country. A National Headquarters within the Ministry of Health has been established to coordinate the ongoing campaign.
Experts remind everyone that measles is an acute infectious disease transmitted by airborne droplets. The disease is characterized by high fever, respiratory inflammation, cough, watery eyes, red eyes, and a characteristic red rash. The disease is most dangerous for children who have not been vaccinated in a timely manner according to the National Immunization Schedule.
