Ukraine declares its readiness for high-level negotiations in any format and geographic region. This was announced by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha following a conference call with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, and the foreign ministers of several European countries.
According to the US State Department, the conversation also included the Foreign Ministers of Germany Johann Wadephul, Finland Elina Valtonen, France Jean-Noël Barrot, Italy Antonio Tajani, Poland Radosław Sikorski, and Great Britain David Lammy.
Sybiga noted that the conversation was based on previous contacts at the leadership level, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's visit to Washington, and the work of national security advisers.
"I conveyed Ukraine's position that security guarantees must be concrete, legally binding, and effective. They must include military, diplomatic, legal, and other levels," Sybiga wrote on August 25 on X's social media account.
According to him, the Ukrainian army remains the foundation for any future guarantees, and its strengthening is a top priority.
The minister emphasized that Kyiv is ready to take further steps toward peace, but simultaneously called on its allies to significantly increase sanctions pressure on Moscow and increase support for Ukraine if Russia continues to avoid constructive steps in the negotiations.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, in turn, confirmed Washington's readiness to continue cooperation with Kyiv and its European partners to achieve a lasting peaceful settlement through negotiations.
