President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with industry leaders and employees in the new building of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic, the presidential press service reported.
Emomali Rahmon congratulated the Committee's staff on the opening of a modern administrative building. It was noted that in recent years, with government support, most of the Committee's structures have been provided with new buildings, valued at over 200 million somoni. In preparation for the 35th anniversary of independence, four more facilities are planned, costing over 40 million somoni.
The head of state emphasized that, to improve the social situation of workers, two 11-story residential buildings for 120 families have been built in Dushanbe at a cost of 59 million somoni. The President urged employees to perform their duties with a high sense of responsibility, taking advantage of the conditions and opportunities created.
The leader of the nation noted the importance of environmental protection, the rational use of natural resources, and ensuring environmental safety. The Committee was tasked with working with other government agencies to improve sectoral legislation, including the development of an Environmental Code and new strategies.
Particular attention is paid to climate change, biodiversity conservation, the development of specially protected natural areas, the expansion of the meteorological network and hydrological observatories, and the digitalization of economic sectors through the training of qualified specialists.
The President ordered the development of a "National Biodiversity Conservation Strategy" and a "Program for the Development of Specially Protected Areas for 2026–2030," as well as measures to include the Romit Biosphere Reserve in the UNESCO network.
In addition, the Committee and government agencies have been tasked with developing ecotourism, raising public awareness, implementing the State Greening Program until 2040, improving waste management, and attracting international grant funding.
In conclusion, Emomali Rahmon expressed confidence that the Committee's staff will continue to use their knowledge, experience, and skills to fulfill assigned tasks with a high sense of patriotism.
