In the Spitamen district of the Sughd region, repairs to irrigation pumping stations are ongoing to ensure a stable water supply to agricultural lands and increase crop yields next year, the regional administration press service reported .
The Spitamen district is one of the leading agricultural districts in the Sughd region. In preparation for the new season, repairs and modernization of pumping stations providing irrigation to the cultivated lands have begun.
During a working visit, Sughd Region Governor Rajab Akhmadzoda inspected the repair work. This year, 26 pumping units are scheduled for repair and modernization, seven of which have been fully completed and commissioned.
It's worth noting that 13 pumping stations operate in the district to irrigate agricultural land. With the support of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the executive authorities of the Sughd Region, new units are purchased and installed annually, contributing to the sustainable supply of irrigated land and the development of the agricultural sector.
Governor Rajab Akhmadzoda instructed officials to complete preparations for the new agricultural season on time and to a high standard. The press service emphasized that a bountiful harvest and the country's food security directly depend on the uninterrupted operation of pumping stations.
Repairs include equipment diagnostics, replacement of obsolete mechanisms, and inspection of water supply systems, which will improve the efficiency of irrigation operations and reduce water loss. Regular pumping unit upgrades also help improve water supply reliability and protect agricultural land from drought.
The district administration noted that work is being carried out in strict accordance with plans and schedules to ensure all systems are ready for the start of the new sowing season.
