From July 8 to 10 of this year, in the western part of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, in the mountainous and foothill regions of the Sughd Region, as well as in the mountainous regions of republican subordination, there remains a high probability of glacial mudflows and rising water levels in rivers.
This was reported by the Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Committee on Environment under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
According to weather forecasters, during this period there is increased melting of glaciers, which increases the risk of mudflows in the basins of large rivers – Panj, Zarafshan and Vakhsh.
In this regard, the Agency calls on residents and tourists to refrain from visiting potentially dangerous areas located near mountain rivers and gorges, and to be extremely vigilant, especially when moving through mountainous areas.
The report also specifies that a gradual decrease in air temperature is expected this week. According to forecasts, the maximum temperature in most regions of the country will not exceed +38 °C. The exception is Khatlon Region, where the thermometer readings may rise to +40…+42 °C during the week.
The competent authorities continue to constantly monitor the situation in order to respond promptly to possible emergencies.
