Under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister of Tajikistan Usmonali Usmonzoda, a working meeting was held at Barki Tojik OJSC dedicated to issues of preventing electricity losses and increasing the efficiency of power grids in cities and districts of republican subordination, NIAT Khovar reports.
The meeting was attended by representatives of relevant ministries and departments, law enforcement agencies, heads of local authorities, as well as energy industry specialists.
As Usmonzoda noted, the amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses and the Criminal Code signed by the country's President Emomali Rahmon on April 15 of this year are aimed at toughening the penalties for interfering with the operation of metering devices and violating the rules for electricity consumption.
Deputy Prosecutor General Sarvar Azimzoda reported that 520 violations of energy consumption legislation were identified during prosecutorial inspections over the first five months of 2025. Based on the inspection results, 25 criminal and 250 administrative cases were initiated, and over 13 million somoni in debt was collected. A total of 130 criminal cases were initiated, about 3.5 thousand people were held accountable, over 39 million somoni in damages were compensated, and over 200 million somoni were received by the budget.
Following the meeting, specific instructions were given to strengthen preventive and explanatory work among the population and to eliminate the identified shortcomings.
