On June 17, the first interdepartmental political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of People's Power for International Relations of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela took place in the capital of Tajikistan, Dushanbe. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan.
The Tajik delegation was headed by First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ismatullo Nasredin, and the Venezuelan delegation was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Asia, the Middle East and Oceania Tatiana Pugh Moreno.
During the consultations, the parties discussed issues of establishing and developing bilateral and multilateral relations, cooperation within the framework of international organizations, in particular the United Nations, as well as other topics of mutual interest to both countries.
Following the meeting, mutual intentions were expressed to further expand cooperation, strengthen direct contacts and improve the legal framework between Tajikistan and Venezuela.
As part of the consultations, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed, providing for the creation of a mechanism for regular political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries.
It is noted that in October of this year, Tajikistan and Venezuela will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, which underlines the importance of strengthening mutual ties.
