A large-scale operation "Illegal" to identify violators of migration laws will start in Kyrgyzstan on June 10, 2025. This was reported by Fergana.ru with reference to Economist.kg.
Preparations for the operation were announced following an interdepartmental meeting with the participation of security and migration agencies of Kyrgyzstan.
An information campaign in foreign languages is planned to be conducted in the country until June 10. Upon its completion, checks of foreign citizens who violated the stay regime will begin. All law enforcement agencies will take part in the operation. Administrative and criminal measures will be applied to violators and inviting parties.
According to the head of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) Kamchybek Tashiev, since the beginning of the year more than 61 thousand tourists, 30 thousand students, 12 thousand official labor migrants and 10 thousand people in other categories have arrived in Kyrgyzstan. At the same time, according to the SCNS, the number of illegal immigrants in the country is about 5 thousand.
"Some foreigners who arrived as tourists and students work without permits. Employers and universities often do not extend visas, leaving foreigners with expired documents. As a result, they violate public order and norms of behavior," the head of the State Committee for National Security said.
The department recalled that on January 1, 2025, the decree of the President of Kyrgyzstan "On measures to optimize migration processes" came into force. Unified permits were introduced through the E-VISA portal, the responsibility of the inviting party was increased, and fines were increased. For example, for an overstay of more than a year, a foreigner will have to pay 20 thousand soms ($229), a legal entity – up to 30 thousand ($343).
As part of the decree, the authority to issue permits was transferred to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the interdepartmental commission was abolished, and the principle of a "single window" was introduced through the electronic portal E-VISA. An additional 280 million soms ($3.2 million) were allocated from the republican budget for the deportation of illegal immigrants.
