On May 18, 2025, large-scale sporting events were held in the cities and districts of the Sughd region of the Republic of Tajikistan – the National Race and Cycling Marathon, which brought together about 100 thousand participants from various segments of the population, the press service of the regional administration reports .
The capital of the region, the city of Khujand, became the center of the event. More than 25 thousand people took part in the start here – young people, schoolchildren, employees of state and private organizations, athletes and fans of a healthy lifestyle. The events were held under the motto of strengthening public health and popularizing sports.
During the ceremonial part, the head of the Sughd region, Rajabboy Akhmadzoda, emphasized the importance of such mass sports events. According to him, they symbolize the unity and cohesion of society, contribute to the formation of a healthy lifestyle and reflect the support of the country's citizens for the policy in the field of sports development, carried out by the leader of the nation Emomali Rahmon.





“The National Run has become a good tradition, which is gaining momentum every year and is held with special scope and solemnity,” noted Rajabboy Akhmadzoda.
He also said that in preparation for the celebration of the 35th anniversary of Tajikistan's state independence in 2025, it is planned to build more than 100 new sports facilities, including modern playgrounds and sports halls in various cities and districts of the region.
The head of the region expressed confidence that such events will help strengthen ties between generations, actively involve the population in sports and foster a healthy spirit in society.






At the end of the official part, Rajabboy Akhmadzoda congratulated all residents of the Sughd region on the Youth Day of the Republic of Tajikistan, wished them good health, success and new achievements.
After that, the participants of the run and the bike marathon started from the swimming pool complex along Rahim Jalil Avenue and finished the distance at the State Flag Square of Tajikistan in Khujand. The winners and active participants were awarded memorable gifts.
