The Chairman of the city of Khujand, Firdavs Sharifzoda, held a working meeting with activists and residents of the mahallas of Sugdiyon, Saykhun and Syrdarya, during which they discussed key areas of the city’s socio-economic development, measures to implement the instructions of the country’s leadership, as well as issues of ensuring public safety, the city administration reports.
The meeting was attended by the deputy mayor, the head of the city administration, representatives of the prosecutor's office, law enforcement agencies, including the State Committee for National Security and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as heads of relevant structures of the city administration.
As the mayor of Khujand noted, the main goal of the meeting was to clarify the tasks set by the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon on April 25, as well as the government telegram of April 28 and the decision of the head of the Sughd region of April 29 to create a working group for explanatory work, including on issues of implementing Article 253¹ of the Criminal Code and Article 382 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Tajikistan.
Firdavs Sharifzoda reported that sustainable economic growth was achieved by mobilizing all available resources. In 2024, the volume of industrial production amounted to over 2.3 billion somoni, including 421.4 million somoni in the first quarter. The volume of exports exceeded 504.6 million somoni, and more than 1.1 billion somoni of products were produced within the framework of the import substitution policy.
According to him, since the beginning of 2024, with the attraction of investments in the amount of over 44 million somoni, 61 small manufacturing enterprises have been opened in the city, which ensured the creation of over 1 thousand new jobs. The average monthly salary in the city reached 2,681 somoni.
In preparation for the 35th anniversary of the republic's state independence, 63 social and infrastructure facilities have already been built in the city. Three of them were ceremonially opened during the recent working visit of the head of state Emomali Rahmon.
At the end of the meeting, the head of the city department of the State Committee for National Security in the Sughd region, Merodzhiddin Salimov, made a report in which he warned about the risks of youth involvement in the activities of extremist organizations and called on residents, parents and public activists to strengthen preventive work.
