US President Donald Trump said he would be sad to see his former supporter, entrepreneur Elon Musk, create a party that could cause political chaos in the country, Interfax reports.
"I am sad to see Elon Musk completely go off the rails and essentially have a train wreck over the last five weeks," Trump said on Truth Social, commenting on the businessman's formation of a new political party.
The American president noted that third parties "have never succeeded in the United States – the system does not seem designed for them."
"The only thing third parties can do is create complete confusion and chaos, and we have enough of that with the radical left Democrats who have lost their confidence and their minds," Trump said.
The day before, Musk announced the creation of the "Party of America".
"With odds of 2 to 1 you want to create a new political party, and you will get it (…). Today, the "Party of America" was created to give you back your freedom," he wrote on the social network X.
Musk explained the formation of the new party by the fact that the United States currently lives in conditions of "bankruptcy (…) due to waste and bribery, in a one-party system, not a democracy."
The media noted that it is not yet clear whether the party has been officially registered by American electoral authorities, who will lead it, and what form it will take.
Musk was a key supporter of US President Donald Trump during his election campaign. After winning the election, Trump appointed the businessman to head the Department of Government Effectiveness.
In May of this year, Musk began to have a heated disagreement with Trump, leaving the White House and publicly criticizing the president's tax and spending plans. The "big, beautiful" law that put those plans into effect was signed by Trump on July 4 after heated debates in the US Congress.
