From July 3 to July 7, abnormally high air temperatures are forecast in most regions of Tajikistan, the republic’s Hydrometeorology Agency reports.
The abnormal heat is caused by the persistent penetration of dry and hot air masses, which will cause a sharp increase in air temperature throughout the country.
In the valley areas of Khatlon region, the temperature is expected to be in the range of 42-47 degrees Celsius, in the valley areas of republican subordination – from 39 to 44 degrees, in the valleys of Sughd region – from 38 to 43 degrees. In the foothill areas, the temperature will be 35-40 degrees, in the mountainous areas – 34-39 degrees, and in the Darvaz region – up to 40-42 degrees Celsius.
Due to the prolonged period of heat and accelerated melting of snow cover and glaciers, the risk of glacial mudflows is increasing in the western regions of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, as well as in the foothill and mountainous regions of the Sughd Region and the republican subordination.
Residents of the region and services are advised to take precautions and closely monitor weather forecasts to minimize possible negative consequences.
