Today, a signing ceremony of a loan agreement between the Saudi Fund for Development and the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan on financing the project to build a ring road in the city of Kulyab took place in Dushanbe. The agreement for the amount of 30 million US dollars was signed by the Executive Chairman of the Saudi Fund for Development Sultan Abdulrahman Al-Marshad and the Minister of Finance of Tajikistan Faiziddin Kahhorzoda.
The event was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Republic of Tajikistan Walid ibn Abdulrahman Al-Reshaidon.
As noted during the ceremony, the signing of the agreement was another step in strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries, which has lasted for more than two decades.
The project envisages the construction of a modern ring road with two bridges in the city of Kulyab. The implementation of the infrastructure project is aimed at improving transport accessibility and logistics in the southern regions of the republic, and will also facilitate safer and faster transportation of goods in the direction of Central Asia – China – Indian Ocean.
The Saudi Fund for Development is one of Tajikistan's key partners in the area of infrastructure reforms. Since the beginning of cooperation, a number of projects have been implemented in the areas of transport, energy, healthcare and education.
