In order to increase the legal culture and awareness of citizens, during May of this year, employees of the regional department of the Agency for State Financial Control and Combating Corruption of the Republic of Tajikistan held a series of meetings with the population in the Zarafshan Valley. This was reported by the press service of the Agency.
The working events took place in the Ayni district, as well as in the rural jamoats of Sarazm, Chinor and Khurmi in the city of Penjikent. They were attended by a wide range of leaders, representatives of educational and religious institutions, teachers, imam-khatibs, activists and local residents.

As noted by the Agency, the main goal of these meetings was to increase the level of legal literacy of the population, to activate public participation in the implementation of state anti-corruption programs, and to prevent corruption offenses.
During the meetings, the Agency representatives explained in detail the changes and additions made to the current legislation of the Republic of Tajikistan, including in terms of preventing the illegal use of electricity, compliance with the legislation on the regulation of holidays and ceremonies, as well as liability for committing corrupt acts and other offenses.
Particular attention was paid to the need for active participation of citizens in ensuring the implementation of legislation, strengthening personal responsibility for compliance with legal norms and standards, as well as the formation of an intolerant attitude towards corruption and other types of offenses.
The Agency emphasized that such events help strengthen the dialogue between government agencies and the population, and also play an important role in preventing corruption and crime at the local level.
