An extended working meeting dedicated to the issue of transition to a 12-year education system was held at the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan. The event was chaired by the Minister of Education and Science Rahim Saidzoda with the participation of the first deputy, deputy ministers, heads of departments and divisions of the central office, as well as representatives of local education authorities and heads of subordinate institutions.
As reported by the press center of the ministry, the initiative to transition to a 12-year education system is being implemented in accordance with the instructions of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, and is considered one of the key stages of the ongoing educational reform.
Speaking to the participants of the meeting, Minister Rahim Saidzoda emphasized that the education system of Tajikistan has been the focus of attention of the head of state throughout the era of state independence. According to him, the development of the educational sphere is moving along the path of strengthening the material and technical base, improving educational programs and raising the professional level of teaching staff.
"The transition to a 12-year system is a necessary step to improve the quality of education and adapt it to modern international standards," Saidzoda said. He noted that this model has long been successfully used in many countries around the world, and its implementation in Tajikistan will take into account national characteristics and interests.
An interdepartmental working group will be formed in the next ten days to implement the transition to the new system in practice. Its task will be to develop a comprehensive action plan, including the preparation of new curricula, retraining of teaching staff, modernization of educational institutions, and conducting an information and explanatory campaign among the population.
According to the participants of the meeting, special attention will be paid to ensuring the phased nature of the transition and monitoring its implementation. The Ministry of Education has been instructed to coordinate interaction with other relevant departments and international partners.
At the end of the meeting, the management of the relevant departments was instructed to mobilize all resources for the high-quality and timely completion of the assigned tasks.
