In the Khatlon region of Tajikistan, with the support of the Asian Development Bank, two projects are being implemented aimed at strengthening food security and empowering women employed in the rural economy. This was reported during a meeting of representatives of the regional executive authority and the ADB, NIAT Khovar reports.
The projects in question are “Digital Agricultural Management for Strengthening Food Security” and “Ensuring Sustainable Livelihoods and Empowering Rural Women”.
The main goal of the initiatives is to develop climate-resilient agriculture, support small and medium-sized businesses in rural areas, and create new jobs. The projects include activities to build agro-logistics centers, develop infrastructure, and create value chains in the horticulture sector.
Particular attention is paid to supporting rural women, given their key role in the region's agricultural economy. Measures are envisaged to expand their rights, increase their economic independence and involve them in entrepreneurial activity.
