The meeting of the Council on Youth Affairs of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States was held on July 2-3 in Gabala, the press service of the CIS Executive Committee reports.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of a ceremonial event dedicated to the implementation of the International Project “Youth Capital of the CIS” in the city of Gabala in 2025.
The meeting was attended by representatives of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, basic organizations for work with youth, development of youth entrepreneurship, development of the volunteer movement and scientific and methodological support of the youth volunteer movement, and the CIS Executive Committee.
The Council members reviewed issues related to the implementation of state youth policy in the Republic of Azerbaijan, summed up the results of the Year of the Volunteer Movement in the CIS in 2024 and the organization of work in 2025 to attract young people to participate in events dedicated to the Year of the 80th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War – the Year of Peace and Unity in the Fight against Nazism.
The meeting discussed the progress of the implementation of action plans for 2025–2026 to implement the Strategy for International Youth Cooperation and the Concept for the Development of Cooperation in Support of the Youth Volunteer Movement.
The Council members agreed with the proposal to hold the 1st Forum of Volunteers of the Commonwealth of Independent States in 2026 in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The meeting participants expressed gratitude to the Azerbaijani side for the high-level preparation for the implementation of the CIS Youth Capital project in the city of Gabala, and also accepted the proposals of the Belarusian and Kazakh sides to nominate the city of Minsk for the right to receive such status in 2027 and the city of Karaganda in 2028.
The progress of preparations for the events (competition of author's projects and exhibition-presentation) of the final of the International Project "100 Ideas for the CIS", which is planned to be held at the end of this year in Astana, was thoroughly reviewed.
The Council heard reports on the results and plans of work of a number of industry basic organizations, approved the Regulation on the Charter of the Council for Youth Affairs of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States, and decided to prepare an information and analytical collection for the 20th anniversary of its activities.
The meeting considered approaches to the formation of the exhibition “CIS for Youth. Youth for the CIS” for the Museum of the History of the CIS.
As part of the meeting program, the Council members also met with participants of the Forum of Public Organizations Working with Youth of the CIS Countries and participants of the role-playing game “Model UN”, and got acquainted with the youth infrastructure of the city of Gabala.
