On July 2, within the framework of the 12th Meeting of the SCO Ministers of Transport, a bilateral meeting was held in Tianjin between the Minister of Transport of the Republic of Tajikistan Azim Ibrohim and the Minister of Transport of the People's Republic of China Liu Wei, the press service of the department reported.
The main topic of the negotiations was the expansion of cooperation between the two countries in the field of transport and logistics.
The parties discussed a wide range of issues, including the establishment of electric vehicle maintenance facilities in Dushanbe, the allocation of premises in Kashgar for Tajik carriers for a temporary cargo storage warehouse, the construction of a section of the Varshez-Kulma highway, a checkpoint at the Kulma-Karosu state crossing, and a logistics center in Kulyab.
The meeting discussed the issue of the People's Republic of China's assistance to the further development of the multimodal corridor "China – Tajikistan – Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan – Iran – Turkey – Europe" and the accession of the Republic of Tajikistan to the project for the construction of the railway "China – Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan".
The head of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Tajikistan noted that the volume of cargo transportation between Tajikistan and China is growing annually, and proposed increasing the number of permits for international road transport.
The transport ministers of the two countries also discussed the status of development of regulatory documents on cooperation between the two countries in the field of transport.
The Minister of Transport of the PRC expressed understanding of the issues raised and expressed readiness to take the necessary measures to resolve them.
The meeting took place in an atmosphere of friendship and mutual respect.
