On July 4, in the city of Khankendi of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon held a meeting with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian within the framework of the Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), the press service of the head of state reported.
The meeting discussed current issues of bilateral cooperation between the two countries, as well as the agenda of the summit.
President Emomali Rahmon expressed Tajikistan’s commitment to further strengthening and expanding multilateral ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
In connection with the recent events in the friendly country, sincere words of sympathy were conveyed on behalf of the Head of State and the people of Tajikistan to the entire brotherly people of Iran.
The parties expressed satisfaction with the current state of bilateral relations, their development and expansion.
It was deemed appropriate to step up the implementation of the agreements reached at previous meetings of heads of state.
The operation of the Sangtuda-2 hydroelectric power station and the effective resolution of issues related to it were noted as a good example of cooperation between Tajikistan and Iran.
A constructive dialogue also took place on other issues of mutual interest.
