Archaeologists from the State Institution “National Museum” under the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, during research excavations at the archaeological site of Khalkajar, located in the village of Sarband in the Khuroson district of the Khatlon region, made a unique discovery – a gold earring, presumably dating back to the period of the Kushan Kingdom.
As reported by the museum's press service, the discovery was made during scientific archaeological work that began on May 20, 2025. The discovered jewelry is distinguished by a high level of jewelry craftsmanship and artistic processing, which, according to experts, indicates the developed craft traditions of the population of that time.

"According to preliminary data, the gold earring can be dated to the Kushan era," the institution clarified. "Currently, laboratory studies are underway to determine the exact dating of the artifact, as well as an analysis of the composition of the metal and the technological features of its production."
The earring will be transferred to the funds of the National Museum and will soon take its place in the exhibition in the section "Achievements of archaeologists of the National Museum". According to experts, the find is of great importance for further study of the social structure, way of life and artistic heritage of the ancient population of the territory of modern Tajikistan.
Work at the Khalkajar site continues, and archaeologists are counting on new finds that will help to recreate a more complete picture of the region's history.
