On May 29, the Central Asia – China Media Forum 2025 was held in the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana. The theme of the event was “Together along the Silk Road, the media is the connecting thread. Let’s build a closer community of shared destiny between China and Central Asia,” reports People’s Daily.
The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev sent a letter of greetings to the forum, which was read by the Assistant to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Domestic Policy and Communications Arman Kyrykbayev. Welcoming speeches were made at the ceremony by the Deputy Minister of the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee responsible for daily work Hu Heping, Director General of the Television and Radio Complex of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Raushan Kazhibayeva, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Renmin Ribao newspaper Fang Jiangshan and Deputy Minister of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan Yevgeny Kochetov.
In his welcoming letter, President Tokayev noted that the Belt and Road Initiative put forward by Chinese President Xi Jinping is of particular importance and has been widely recognized by the international community as a platform for global cooperation. The Republic of Kazakhstan attaches great importance to the development of a comprehensive strategic partnership on a permanent basis with the People's Republic of China. The Central Asia-China Media Forum is an important platform for strengthening mutual understanding, trust and partnership in the media sphere. President Tokayev wished the forum productive work and constructive discussions for the benefit of all countries and peoples.
The forum participants noted that media exchanges are an important part of China's relations with Central Asian countries. The media of China and Central Asian countries need to respond sensitively to the trends of the times, find new formats of cooperation, jointly tell stories of friendly interaction, thereby contributing wisdom and strength to building a closer community of shared destiny between China and Central Asia.
This forum was jointly organized by the People's Daily newspaper and the Television and Radio Complex of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The event was attended by more than 200 representatives of leading media, experts, scientists and business representatives from China and Central Asian countries. The forum also included the opening ceremony of the photo exhibition of the Central Asia – China Media Forum 2025 and the launch ceremony of the Central Asian and Chinese Media Press Tour on the high-quality joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative.
