The prospects for expanding trade, economic and industrial cooperation were discussed in Dushanbe by the Minister of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Tajikistan Sherali Kabir and the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria Atanas Zafirov. The meeting took place on May 28 in the building of the relevant ministry. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Industry of Tajikistan.
During the talks, the parties exchanged views on strengthening bilateral ties in key sectors of the economy. Sherali Kabir acquainted the Bulgarian delegation with the priority areas of the country's industrial policy, emphasizing the interest in establishing cooperation in the extraction and processing of strategically important minerals, including antimony, mercury, graphite, anthracite, silver, copper and lithium.

"Considering the availability of rich natural resources, Tajikistan is ready to deepen cooperation in the field of non-ferrous metallurgy, especially the aluminum industry, as well as in mechanical engineering, pharmaceuticals and light industry," the head of the ministry noted. In particular, attention was paid to joint processing of cotton and the organization of export of finished textile products to the markets of the European Union.

The negotiations focused on the digital transformation of the economy. It was noted that Tajikistan is the first country in the region to adopt the National Strategy for the Development of Artificial Intelligence and has already begun to implement the tasks set. This initiative could become the basis for bilateral partnership in the field of high technology and innovation.
At the end of the meeting, Sherali Kabir invited the Bulgarian side to take part in the first Textile Forum and Exhibition of Textile Equipment, which will be held in July this year in Dushanbe. The parties expressed mutual interest in intensifying economic dialogue and implementing joint projects.
