The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Mukhriddin held a meeting with the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations Amina Mohammed and the UN Special Envoy for Water Retno Marsudi. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan.
The meeting took place in Dushanbe as part of a visit by high-level UN representatives, timed to coincide with the first International Conference on Glacier Conservation. Key issues of interaction between Tajikistan and the UN, including cooperation with its structural divisions, were discussed during the talks.


The parties discussed in detail current topics on the international agenda, including sustainable water management, combating climate change and implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Particular attention was paid to the role of Tajikistan in promoting water diplomacy on the global stage.
The head of the Foreign Ministry of Tajikistan noted the active and consistent position of the republic on issues of sustainable development and environmental protection, and also expressed readiness to further strengthen the partnership with the United Nations.
In turn, UN representatives highly appreciated Tajikistan’s contribution to the promotion of international initiatives in the field of water resources, emphasizing the importance of the conference organized in Dushanbe as a platform for consolidating global efforts.
