President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon held talks with Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif, who arrived in Dushanbe to participate in the first International High-Level Conference on Glacier Conservation. This was reported by the press service of the head of state.
During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of issues related to the current state and prospects for the development of Tajik-Pakistani relations. Particular attention was paid to strengthening political dialogue, economic cooperation, as well as defense and regional security issues.



The head of Tajikistan expressed gratitude to Pakistan for supporting Tajikistan's global initiatives in the field of climate change and water resources management. "We appreciate Pakistan's contribution to the implementation of our international initiatives on climate and water issues," Emomali Rahmon emphasized.
The parties confirmed the high level of trust between the countries, noting the progressive development of bilateral cooperation based on the historical, cultural and civilizational ties of the peoples of Tajikistan and Pakistan.
In the context of growing instability in the international arena, the parties particularly emphasized the importance of strengthening partnership in the field of defense and security. It was noted that close cooperation in these areas contributes to stability and sustainable development in the region.






The economic part of the talks considered prospects for expanding cooperation in such sectors as energy, transport and communications. The CASA-1000 project was particularly highlighted as a strategically important element of infrastructure connectivity between Central and South Asia.
President Emomali Rahmon also noted Tajikistan’s interest in developing regional connectivity, including expanding transport corridors – rail, road and air – as well as providing access to Pakistani ports.
