Permanent Representative of Palestine to the UN Riyad Mansour burst into tears at a UN Security Council meeting while talking about the deaths of children in Gaza, Tengrinews.kz reports.
He said the suffering of civilians was beyond words. Addressing diplomats, he was unable to continue his speech.
"This is unbearable. How can one bear this? I have grandchildren… To see this is beyond the strength of any normal person," the ambassador said and began to cry.
Israel launched a military operation in Gaza after Hamas attacked the south of the country on October 7, 2023. The militants killed about 1,200 Israelis and took 251 hostages.
According to Gaza authorities, more than 54,000 Palestinians have been killed since the Israeli operation began, and much of the coastal enclave has been reduced to rubble.
The Palestinian Ambassador called on the international community to immediately stop the suffering of civilians and stressed that children have become the main victims of this conflict.
