More than 500 accredited domestic and foreign journalists are covering the work of the International High-Level Conference on Glacier Conservation, which is taking place in the capital of Tajikistan. This was reported by the head of the Information and Press Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Shohin Samadi.
“The large-scale attention from media representatives demonstrates the importance of the problem of melting glaciers for the global community,” he noted.
According to Samadi, the organizers have created all the necessary conditions for the effective work of journalists: a modern press center is operating, high-speed Internet is provided at all forum sites, access is provided to plenary sessions, thematic panel discussions, as well as to comments from delegation representatives, experts and scientists.
He also stressed that the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon has consistently put forward initiatives in the field of environmental protection and glacier conservation, which has received broad support in the international arena.
"This conference demonstrates the readiness of the world community for joint action. Along with scientific and environmental approaches, practical steps to overcome one of the most serious threats of our time are also being discussed," Samadi said.
He noted the important role of journalists in disseminating information about climate threats and shaping public awareness. "It is the media that can awaken global solidarity and mobilize efforts to preserve glaciers as a strategic resource for future generations," the MFA representative concluded.
