Today, May 30, the International High-Level Conference on Glacier Conservation will begin in Dushanbe, NIAT Khovar reports.
The opening ceremony, which will take place at Kokhi Somon, will feature speeches by the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Muhammad Shahboz Sharif, the UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Muhammad, high-ranking officials and other heads of delegations, after which the conference will continue here in the format of thematic sessions, panel discussions and round tables.
About 2.5 thousand people from more than 80 countries have registered to participate in the event. Information support for the event will be provided by more than 350 media representatives, including about 150 representatives of foreign media, including Al Jazeera, Euronews, TRT-Avaz, France-Presse, ITAR-TASS and others. For their convenience, a modern press center has been created in Kokhi Somon, equipped with all the necessary equipment and high-speed Internet.
More than 120 volunteers are actively involved at all stages of the conference, providing registration, logistics, guest support, translation, and assistance in holding thematic events.

The Dushanbe Declaration on Glaciers is a global call for urgent action;
Co-Chairs' Summary – Key Recommendations, Conclusions and Suggestions;
The Dushanbe Call is a political message and a platform for further international cooperation.
The conference in Dushanbe will be a significant contribution to advancing the climate agenda and strengthening international partnerships to protect glaciers, the most important sources of fresh water on the planet.
It should be noted that these days Tajikistan has become a key international platform for discussing current issues of climate change.
The conference was organized within the framework of the International Year of Glacier Conservation on the initiative of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, supported at the 77th session of the UN General Assembly.
