On May 24, the Chairman of the Sughd Region of the Republic of Tajikistan, Rajabboy Akhmadzoda, held a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov, who arrived in the region on an official visit. This was reported by the press service of the Chairman of the region.
During the meeting, Rajabboy Akhmadzoda welcomed the Uzbek delegation and noted that the relations of friendship and good neighborliness between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan are at the stage of sustainable development thanks to the political will of the leaders of the two states – President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.



“The signing of strategic agreements, the treaty of eternal friendship and regular state visits have created a solid foundation for deepening economic, trade and humanitarian cooperation, as well as developing interregional ties,” Akhmadzoda emphasized.
The head of the Sughd region spoke about the economic potential of the region. Currently, there are more than 1,250 medium and large industrial enterprises operating in the region, producing over 250 types of products. Particular attention is paid to the development of agriculture as a key sector in ensuring food security. According to Akhmadzoda, over 70 thousand dekhkan farms are registered in the region.
The parties discussed issues of importing high-quality wheat seeds and fruit seedlings from Uzbekistan, exchanging agricultural experience, introducing innovative technologies in the agricultural sector, as well as other aspects of bilateral cooperation in the field of agriculture.
At the end of the meeting, the regional chairman invited the Uzbek delegation to participate in the International Fair “Sughd – 2025”, which will be held in June of this year in the Sughd region.
