In Sughd region, a meeting was held between the regional chairman Rajabboy Akhmadzoda and a delegation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), during which issues of expanding bilateral cooperation and implementing joint investment projects were discussed. This was reported by the press service of the regional chairman.
The head of the region welcomed the guests to the ancient Sughd land and spoke in detail about the economic and social achievements of the region, as well as the prospects for its development. He emphasized that thanks to state independence and the comprehensive support of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, the region is developing steadily, and significant state and international projects are being implemented in various sectors.

According to Akhmadzoda, the annual population growth in the region reaches 2.5%, which requires the expansion of the manufacturing sector, efficient use of agricultural land and the creation of new jobs. These measures are aimed at reducing the level of external labor migration and improving the quality of life of the population.
With the participation of development partners, including the EBRD, more than a dozen infrastructure and social projects are being implemented in the region. Among the priority ones is the project "Development of public transport in the city of Khujand", which provides for the purchase of electric buses. The implementation of the project is considered an important step towards improving the environmental situation and solving transport problems.
Its successful completion requires timely allocation of funds and acquisition of the required number of electric vehicles. EBRD representatives confirmed their readiness to support the proposed initiatives, especially those aimed at sustainable development and improving living conditions of the population.

The meeting also presented the Concept for the Development of the Integrated Transport System of the City of Khujand and Adjacent Territories. The issues of attracting investment in transport infrastructure, supporting the city economy and improving living conditions were discussed. Particular attention was paid to projects in the new residential area of Saykhun, where modern infrastructure is planned to be built.
The goal of these initiatives is to provide the population with housing, preserve agricultural land, develop a full-fledged urban environment and create a safe and sustainable society.
