A ceremony of awarding the main humanitarian prize of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) "Stars of the Commonwealth" and the international youth prize "Commonwealth of Debuts" took place in Dushanbe. The event took place on May 14 as part of the Forum of Creative and Scientific Intelligentsia of the CIS, the press service of the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth reports.
This year, eight outstanding figures in culture, science, education and the humanitarian sphere from the CIS countries became laureates of the Stars of the Commonwealth award. The award is given annually for significant contribution to the development of humanitarian cooperation in the Commonwealth and strengthening friendship between peoples.
Winners of the Stars of the Commonwealth Award In the nomination “For Outstanding Contribution to Culture and Art” the award was given to:
Eduard Tadeosyan (Armenia) – People's Artist of Armenia, professor of the Yerevan State Conservatory, artistic director of the Komitas Quartet.
Elena Atrashkevich (Belarus) – composer, chairperson of the Belarusian Union of Composers, teacher at the Minsk College of Arts.
Aizhan Bekkulova (Kazakhstan) – expert of the National Committee on Intangible Cultural Heritage, chairperson of the Union of Craftsmen of Kazakhstan.
Denis Matsuev (Russia) – People's Artist of Russia, pianist, soloist of the Moscow State Philharmonic.
Rustam Sagdullaev (Uzbekistan) is an Honored Artist of Uzbekistan and an Honorary Professor of the Tashkent branch of the All-Russian State Institute of Cinematography named after S. A. Gerasimov.
In the nomination “For outstanding contribution and achievements in science and education” the winners were:
Aziz Aliyev (Azerbaijan) – professor, rector of the Baku branch of the First Moscow State Medical University named after I.M. Sechenov.
Muhammadyusuf Imomzoda (Tajikistan) – academician, professor of the Department of Persian-Tajik Literature of the Tajik National University.
In the nomination “For outstanding contribution to humanitarian activities” the award was received by:
Tugelbai Kazakov (Kyrgyzstan) – People's Artist of Kyrgyzstan, Chairman of the Commission on State Prizes, Chairman of the Union of Musical Figures of the country.
The Stars of the Commonwealth Award has been presented since 2009 to representatives of the CIS countries for significant achievements in the humanitarian sphere. The award is 2 million rubles. This year, 15 candidates from eight countries were nominated for the award.
Winners of the Commonwealth of Debuts Award The International Youth Award "Commonwealth of Debuts" this year was dedicated to the Year of Volunteer Movement in the CIS. Nine applications from seven Commonwealth countries were submitted for consideration.

Jeyla Seyidova (Azerbaijan) is the leader and first violinist of the State String Quartet of the Azerbaijan Philharmonic, Honored Artist of Azerbaijan.
Mikael Martirosyan (Armenia) – Deputy Director of the College of the National Polytechnic University of Armenia, General Director of the IT company "Evotech".
Pavel Vandeev (Belarus) is a specialist in organizing youth events at the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts.
Aridash Ospanbayeva (Kazakhstan) is a director of the Mukhtar Auezov National Drama Theatre.
Nurzhana Bardubayeva (Kyrgyzstan) is a lecturer at the Law College of the Kyrgyz National University named after Zhusup Balasagyn.
Anna Kolycheva (Russia) – Deputy General Director of the Youth Center of Yugra.
Sorbon Zafarzoda (Tajikistan) – Senior Lecturer, Department of Organic Chemistry, Tajik National University.
The Commonwealth of Debuts Award was established in 2008 by the Council for Humanitarian Cooperation and the Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS. The award is given to young specialists under 35 years of age for their achievements in the humanitarian sphere.
